Aside from the stellar synth work on display in this single, the lyrics are absolutely hysterical. However, Tesla Coils does not sacrifice quality for humor.

It's just amazing and special for me due to my great feelings to analog synths and dinosaurs =) Additionally, these guys doing all great music, oh someday I'll hear them live. I hope so

lyrics
I had written this track early on in the Cøils days, and it quickly became a favourite part of our chaotic live performances. I kind of shot myself in the foot after the release of our first EP Emergence, because I vowed to always make a film clip for every song we put out. That meant that the release of future material was constantly delayed because I didn't have the funds to produce 5 music videos that topped the DIY ones we did with Emergence. Putting stuff out was also delayed by a newfound pressure from being surrounded by new industry colleagues constantly telling us what to do with releases. "You gotta release it this way, you gotta mix it better, you gotta go for a music grant and get someone better to mix it, you gotta pay a radio plugger a bunch of money to get it on [radio station]", etc.
Anyway, when I graduated my uni degree (which took up quite a lot of my time), I suddenly had a tiny window of time to muster a last-minute burst of energy to finally finish "Dinosynth". I also got our friend Peter Anthony on board to animate the space adventure video that I had envisioned for the song ever since I wrote it. He worked tirelessly to complete each little scene, sent each scene to me and I would cut it all up and sync it to the song using Premiere Pro. I was pretty busy that Christmas but it was worth it.
We released "Dinosynth" and people seemed to just be happy that we were putting stuff out again. We played a bunch of shows with our friends. Then I went back to uni for my honours year which became the most stressful and time-consuming tasks of my life - and Cøils went back into hibernation.
Looking back, "Dinosynth" represents the last dregs of childhood wonder in my psyche, before I finally realised it's time to grow up and write from the heart, not from my Saturday morning cartoons. It's impish and whimsical, its sound and visual aesthetic does not match my new direction at all, but hey, you can always fast-forward past this part of my career, like that "cheer up Charlie" scene in Willy Wonka.
